Pilot Light extinguishes when heater flames turn OFF
Hi, I have a Model RFN28TC gas fireplace. Every season I clean the ignitor and where the pilot flame comes out and then it works for the entire season without problems. A couple of days ago I noticed the unit was OFF (pilot flame was OFF). I reignited it but every time the heater flames turn OFF, so does the pilot light. Now I'm at the point where the pilot flame won't even ignite with the spark anymore and I need to use a match. It "seems" to me that what ever valve shuts the gas OFF to the main heater flames, is also shutting it off to to pilot flame. Do I need to order a new gas valve (21 098522-12 Thermostat Gas Valve) or the following parts (12 099440-05 ODS/Pilot Assembly; 12-1 098514-01 Thermocouple; 12-2 098594-01 Ignitor Electrode)? Is there anything else I can do to remedy the problem? Your help is much appreciated!

You should order the 099440-05 ODS/Pilot Assembly this comes with the thermocouple and igniter as part of the assembly.
This should resolve you problem.

Re: Pilot Light extinguishes when heater flames turn OFF
Thanks for the reply! This morning I was able to turn the fireplace ON (using a match) and set it to full blast (maximum heat). Within a few seconds, the entire heater flame + pilot flame turned OFF. This, I haven't seen before because it never reached the set temperature. Could this be a defective part or a low supply gas line pressure or both? (I noticed the range top flames were not as powerful as they usually are). Thanks again

This could all be from the same problem with the Pilot/ODS Also here is a link for cleaning the unit first. http://www.msservice.net/ts/reseat_ther ... ot-ODS.htm

Thanks! I tried ordering the part and they can no longer obtain it so I decided to clean the tubes/ignitor/pilot/thermocouple. It's working like a charm.
